The “Great Fire of Eydon” took place in this small Northamptonshire village in 1905.  Despite the danger, a large crowd gathered from all around to marvel at the spectacle and watch the six attending Fire Brigades in action. No lives were lost, but eleven homes were destroyed before the fire could be halted.

Inspired by the story of the fire, this Artists Book includes excerpts from the original newspaper report of the fire in the Banbury Guardian and was the winner of the Sheffield International Artists Book Prize (student category) in 2013. Once printed and folded the paper of the book is carefully scorched. The book is stored in a match box inspired box along with a single spent match.
